
Shantipur is a historic place situated about 20 km from Krishnanagar, in Nadia District, West Bengal. It was a seat of Sanskrit learning and literature, Vedic texts and scriptures during the ninth century.
Major points of attraction here include the Shayam Chand Temple built in traditional ‘Aatchala’ style, the Jaleswar Temple with its exquisite terracotta designs and the Adwaita Prabhu Temple. The Topkhana Mosque, built during the reign of Aurangzeb, the last of the prominent Mughal rulers.
Shantipur is also famous for its Tant Sarees and Nilambari Saree.
Fulia, a township situated close to Shantipur, is the birth place of poet Krittibas, composer of Bangla Ramayana.
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is the closest airport. Krishnanagar City Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
